Volunteering

We want parents to volunteer and not feel pressured, required or obligated. We make parent involvement, not fund raising, priority. Because of the increase cuts we have had to deal with, McCall is dependent upon parent volunteers now more than ever. If you volunteer for a Home & School event, it is not necessary to get Volunteer Clearances. If you do anything working with children in the school, clearances are necessary. If you are unable to do something at school, please let us know if there is something that you can do on your own time/schedule to assist the school.

Parent Volunteers

McCall depends on parental involvement through its Home & School Association (HSA).

How can you help? You can volunteer in a classroom to read, be class parent, and/or work on a variety of HSA Committees and initiatives. Due to the economy and budget constraints, the school is also always in need of financial assistance and various donations. Send an email to president@meetingmccall.com if you are interested in any volunteer opportunities.

Parent volunteers must obtain and submit:

  1. Pennsylvania State Criminal Record Report - obtained online through PATCH
  2. Child Abuse Report - obtained by printing and mailing in the Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Form (PDF)

You can find more information, forms, and instructions at Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.

Non-Parent Volunteers

McCall is seeking Volunteers to help out in various capacities. Due to the economy and budget constraints, the school is always in need of "friends" to volunteer. If you know anyone who may have an hour a week to volunteer, McCall children could really benefit from their time!

If you know anyone — grandparents, neighbors, etc — who might want to volunteer or learn more about volunteering at McCall, please contact the Home & School Association at volunteer@meetingmccall.com or Ms. Bobby Benjamin at rbenjamin@philasd.org.

Non-parent volunteers must obtain and submit:

  1. Pennsylvania State Criminal Record Report - obtained online through PATCH
  2. Child Abuse Report - obtained by printing and mailing in the Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Form (PDF)
  3. FBI Background Check - See the Pennsylvania Department of Education's page on Federal Criminal History Background Checks.

You can find more information, forms, and instructions at Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.
